Marvel is an early maincrop variety.  This variety is particularily suitable for french fries.  Tubers have excellent resistance to splitting and some resistance to bruising.  Trials have found good resistance to dry rot (F. coeruleum) and dry rot (F. sulphureum).  Tests for resistance to potato cyst nematode demonstrated resistance to Globodera rostochiensis Ro1 and partial resistance to Globodera pallida Pa 2/3, 1.
